v1.11.0By Jonathan Cosgrove3 min read

Liquid fast.

Speed is the feature. We rebuilt how sync works, how the notebook engine performs, and how fast your note is ready after recording. Everything just got faster. Still entirely on-device.

Stop, then 3 seconds. From end-of-recording to ready note.

In this release

Three things that change how fast Cleft feels.

Plus14improvements & fixes

01: Speed

3seconds.

From stop to ready note · down from 20s

Press stop. Read your note.

We rebuilt the transcription pipeline end-to-end. The wait between stop and a ready, formatted note dropped from twenty seconds to three. Everything happens on-device.

  • 20s → 3s. On-device transcription engine upgraded.
  • No phantom “Thank you.” Silence filtering catches hallucinations.
  • Still on-device. No server roundtrip. No data leaves your phone.
02: Sync
Library performance

Only changed notes sync.

Big libraries used to drag every refresh. We rebuilt sync to push deltas only. Open Cleft on a second device and the new note arrives without a full reload.

  • Delta sync. Send only what changed, never the library.
  • Local Sync, more reliable. Devices on the same network find each other faster.
  • Smarter notebook. Tricky recordings no longer crash the engine.
03: Recording

Decisive moments while you record.

Three small affordances that change how recording feels. Restart without leaving, see the auto-export drop in your local folder on Mac, and trust the recording view to look right on every screen.

Restart from inside

Discard and start fresh without leaving the recording screen.

  • Cancel, Live Activity gone. Cancellations clean up the lock screen.
  • Stop saves immediately. Recordings save the moment you hit stop.

Fixes & reliability

  • Switch apps mid-recording. Transcription picks up where you left off.
  • GPU issues handled gracefully. Falls back to CPU when needed.
  • Mac copy buttons work. Toolbar copy actions no longer fail silently.
  • No more background crashes on Mac. App stays running where you put it.
